Day 21 Sprinfield to Tuscola

We awoke at a leisurely 6 o'clock. We got up just after 7 to have breakfast at the Hotel. The usual scrambled eggs, toast cereal, waffles etc .Loading was not until 9am due to this being the shortest leg of the trip at a tad under 80 miles. The weather however was the least friendly with light to medium drizzle and a medium cross wind to content with as we left the hotel. The rain abated after 13 miles but the sky was still threatening. The temperature was around the 11C mark. As we arrived into the lunch stop (the only SAG of the day) at 41 miles the drizzle started. We ate inside the gas station there.

Standing space only. However, there was heat on and no rain. Nice!

After lunch the rain settled in and we contended with false flat up 20 mph cross and head winds for the last 40 miles. It was just a matter of putting your head down and getting on with it.  We did not see any of the support vehicles after lunch. We arrived at 1:45.
The coffee and hot chocolate were warm. Where's our luggage?

The luggage arrived around 2:30 so we unloaded and had a hot shower.

Distance for the day77.8 miles time: 4:18. The weather for tomorrows 120 miles is forecast to be a lot better. Overall it was not a bad ride. Mostly the roads were good with little traffic. Although in some cases quite narrow and we used most of it with three in our echelon into the wind. As Eric tagged along for the "ride".
